She's lived in New York and San Francisco but now calls Austin, Texas her home. Stefanie is generally considered a songwriter's songwriter and has attracted the attention of an impressive assortment of musicians throughout her career; she always manages to draw a world-class musical cream of the crop to all her projects.
Her most recent CD, Crooked Smile was produced by Stephen Doster (Willie Nelson, Nancy Griffith, Dr. John) & Johnny Goudie (Sky Rockets, Canvas, Endocine). The CD also features the likes of Dony Wynn on drums (Robert Palmer, Steve Winwood), Brad Houser on bass (Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians, Suzanna Choffel), Stewart Cochran on keys (54 Seconds, Jimmy Lafave) and Jon Sanchez on guitar (The Summer Wardrobe, Freedy Johnson).
Stefanie's last full length CD, SURVIVAL was co-produced by Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan) and the late Bob Mayo (Hall & Oates, Peter Frampton). Recorded in upstate New York, the CD received 4 stars from All Music Guide and Stefanie toured all over North America with SURVIVAL in tow.
Just before moving to Austin five years ago Stefanie began to explore experimental lo-fi indie rock the result was an EP called Limited Sight Distance. The project included contributions from Adam Snyder, Jason and Justin Russo (all formally of Mercury Rev) and John Parker (Varnaline). Produced by Kevin McMahon (The Walkmen, The Mooney Suzuki), Stefanie again attracted a musical "crème de la crème." In 2007 Stefanie was the subject of a full-length television documentary that was aired on PBS-NJ called "In Sound".
Fix has shared stages and bills with Jules Shear, John Hall (of Orleans) and Pete Seeger, Shawn Colvin, Janis Ian, John Wesley Harding, Freedy Johnson, Dale Watson, Will Sexton, Jill Sobule, Jimmy Lafave, and countless others. She's been a finalist in over 8 different National Songwriting competitions including the International Billboard Songwriters Competition, and USA Songwriters competition.
Stefanie also has a Masters Degree in teaching; and her values and integrity can be evidenced in every thing she does. She says the reason she started coaching and teaching is because, "I just remember those few special people who nurtured and encouraged me throughout my life. People who helped shape me and gave me the courage to be who I am. Many of them were my teachers. By sharing what I've learned through the years, as a songwriter and performer, I hope to be able to give back the same kind of encouragement and inspiration that was given to me". Stefanie continues to tour and performs regularly in the Austin area.
